The first solar energy company, the world's largest manufacturer of solar energy equipment, will build a 65 square kilometer solar power plant in the Hangjin Banner energy and chemical base in Ordos City. First solar also plans to build a special factory to produce solar modules and panels required by the power plant.
The construction of the project is divided into four phases. The first phase was started on june1,2010, generating 30 MW after completion. The second and third phases can generate 100 MW and 870 MW respectively, which will be completed by the end of 2014. The fourth phase can generate 1000 MW, which will be completed by the end of 2019.
Solar power station benefits:
1. Solar energy resources are inexhaustible. The solar energy shining on the earth is 6000 times greater than the energy currently consumed by human beings. Moreover, solar energy is widely distributed on the earth. As long as there is light, the photovoltaic power generation system can be used. There is no limit to geographical and altitude factors.
2. Solar energy resources are available everywhere, and power can be supplied nearby without long-distance transmission, avoiding power loss caused by long-distance transmission lines.
3. The energy conversion process of photovoltaic power generation is simple, which is the direct conversion from photons to electrons. There is no intermediate process (such as the conversion of heat energy into mechanical energy, mechanical energy into electromagnetic energy, etc.) and mechanical movement, and there is no mechanical wear. According to thermodynamic analysis, photovoltaic power generation has high theoretical power generation efficiency, which can reach more than 80%, and has great potential for technological development.
