Chinese Battery Makers Expand Production in Southeast Asia

Amid growing overseas demand and localization policies, multiple Chinese battery manufacturers have recently announced new factories in Indonesia, Thailand, and Vietnam. Industry analysts highlight that Southeast Asia not only offers labor cost advantages but also provides strategic access to nickel and cobalt resources.
These new plants are expected to start production within the next two years, supplying local automakers as well as export markets in Europe and the U.S. The expansion strengthens Chinese companies’ global competitiveness and elevates Southeast Asia’s role in the global battery supply chain.
